IP67 waterproof and dustproof

Built using a variety of waterproof and dustproof components, including a USB Type-C port that is waterproof even without a sealing cap, and a seamless aluminum body. Our SL-M series can be immersed in up to 3.28 feet of water for up to 30 minutes and is completely dustproof too. That's total protection for storing data in all conditions and environments.

An innovative one-piece aluminum body with omni-directional shockproof construction enables these ultra tough drives to withstand drops of up to 29.53 feet, pressure of up to 6,000 kgf, and bending of 2,000 kgf. This gives you the toughness you need while travelling or on photo shoots.

Easy labeling and identification

Supplied with two rubber bands and a sticker sheet, SL-M drives make it easy to label drives and identify stored content. This is very useful when using multiple drives. 

Stay secure with hardware encryption and password protection

Enjoy peace of mind with AES 256-bit encryption on the embedded SSD controller. Dedicated hardware encryption means no transfer slow-downs. Dual password protection allows the owner to lend out the locked drive using just a guest password without having to reveal the administrator password. Passwords can be managed by the SSD Utility app.

Lifetime Checker: Helps you check the condition of your drive

Lifetime checker is supported by the SSD Utility app, which automatically scans your drive when the drive is connected. It shows an easy-to-understand warning message if the embedded flash memory is approaching the limit of its write cycle.

File Rescue

Sometimes things go wrong and you accidentally delete files and photos. The Memory Card File Rescue app is a powerful and easy-to-use tool that recovers data. Available as a free download for Sony External SSD SL-M series customers.
