DJI has been helping photographers, videographers, and all creators alike bring their ideas and visions to life with some of the most impressive optical technologies available today.  From DJI’s high flying drones to their camera stabilization systems, DJI has truly redefined camera placement and motion.  And the DJI RS 3 gimbal stabilizer continues this philosophy, delivering versatility and effectiveness to your photography, designed for solo creators.

Photographers need a reliable method to capture their vision while ensuring workflow efficiency.  Since its release date, the DJI RS 3 gimbal stabilizer has caught the attention of many creators from all corners of the photography world.  The DJI RS 3 is designed to the smallest detail to enhance the solo photography experience to its fullest potential with maximum efficiency.

With a newly envisioned design and features with a price starting at $549, the DJI RS 3 gimbal stabilizer is ready when you are.

Introduction to the RS 3 Gimbal Stabilizer

This new powerful tool’s design is perfect for when time matters and every second counts.  DJI literally created the RS 3 with the intent of enabling creators to get the perfect shot during action sequences such as sports and wildlife.

Balance your camera faster and easier with the RS 3’s dual layer camera mounting plate and a new fine-tuning knob.  Lock and unlock your gimbal using the new automated axis lock design which enables the camera to begin shooting in seconds, never missing your perfect shot.

You won’t have to worry about the need for a shutter cable as the RS 3 has an integrated Bluetooth camera control, eliminating the need to touch your camera’s controls which can cause shake and noise to your image.

Conveniently set and adjust your parameters and other operational settings using the RS 3’s bright 1.8-inch OLED touchscreen display.  There is a gimbal mode switch if you need to quickly switch between follow modes, ensuring you stay in the moment and don’t miss a second of action.

DJI’s next generation Focus Motor provides 3 times stronger torque and is easy to install in one step.  The RS 3 is perfect when your shooting solo and allows you to get precision focus even during one handed operation.  This due to the front focus dial, engineered in the most perfect way and easy to operate.

Conveniently designed to improve efficiency as well as storage allows you to take the RS 3 gimbal stabilizer with you anywhere you go.  For the adventurers and explorers out there, the RS 3 will provide reliable and consistent stabilization performance even in the harshest of settings such as low-temperature environments.  The RS 3 is a beast that can handle up to 3 kilograms of weight, ensuring performance and compatibility regardless of your mirrorless camera and lens combo.

DJI has updated its stabilization algorithm for the Ronin RS 3 giving it up to 20% more stabilization.  This third-generation stabilization algorithm can stabilize even the most stressful movements using its SuperSmooth feature.  SuperSmooth steadies the camera, keeping your footage smooth and clear even while using a bulkier heavier telephoto lens.

Control your gimbal and view your frame remotely via your smartphone using the DJI Ronin Image Transmitter.  This is a very cool feature, especially for solo creators since you can adjust your settings, parameters, and even the motion control function.  Plus, watching your camera rotate and move on its own via smartphone controls is a very cool experience.  DJI also updated the RS 3 with a new briefcase handle which enables low-angle shots and transitions simple and fast.

Speaking to power, the RS 3 battery provides up to 12 hours of life.  With a quick release for the battery, and secure mounting, you can perform swaps in a heartbeat, so you never get sidelined during a photoshoot sequence.

The DJI Ronin RS 3 gimbal stabilizer exemplifies smooth and efficient shooting.  Whether you’re going solo, or with a small crew, the RS 3 is designed to allow creators to stay focused on what matters, and never miss a beat.

RS 3 vs RS 3 Pro

The RS 3 is an amazing stabilization tool, helping turn your idea into a reality.  Sometimes, the journey to creating that reality requires a little more power and the DJI RS 3 Pro was crafted expertly for this very reason.  DJI boasts that the “RS 3 pro is not just a gimbal, it’s an expansive platform for cinema cameras providing the most advanced technology and features that professionals need”.  This couldn’t be more accurate.

Like the RS 3, the RS 3 pro optimizes function for solo shooting scenarios.  The newly redesigned gimbal makes the RS 3 pro simple to operate while the automatic axis locks allow you to lock and unlock the gimbal at an instance, just like the RS 3.  Similarly, you have a 1.8-inch OLED touchscreen providing direct access to the gimbal settings with an added gimbal mode switch for quick mode swaps.  The RS 3 pro also uses Bluetooth shutter control, getting rid of the need for pesky control cables.  The RS 3 pro shares the same updated third gen stabilization algorithm providing smooth stabilization with 20% improved performance.

The RS 3 pros’ version of the Lidar Range Finder provides pinpoint accuracy with up to 43,200 ranging points with a 14-meter max range.  The quick release design of the next generation focus motor has 3 times stronger motor torque and reduces noise by 50%.  Between the Lidar Range Finder and the new focus motor, the RS 3 pro has 2 focus modes (Wide/Spot) that can achieve cinematic autofocus even with manual lenses.

The RS 3 pro also has a built-in camera to provide a secondary live view on the touchscreen which is designed to minimize latency and improve responsiveness when subject tracking.  The RS 3 pro uses the same processor as the Ronin 4D which enables the ActiveTrack Pro feature to be 60 times more accurate.

The RS 3 Pro is built stronger.  With a payload capacity of 4.5 kilograms, the RS 3 pro is a ready for anything.  The new extended arms also feature the same monocoque carbon fiber process as the Ronin 2.  The RS 3 pro supports the new DJI transmission which can be mounted and powered directly from the grip.  No need for external batteries.

With the RS 3 pro, you can also use DJI’s High-Bright Remote Monitor and 4d Hand Grips.  This gives you advanced gimbal, focus, and camera control with cinema-standard transmission and monitoring.  This is a great feature for coordinated shooting.  The O3 Pro transmission gives a 1080p/60fps ultra low latency video feed up to a staggering 20,000 feet.  For superior anti-interference performance, the RS 3 pro also supports auto frequency hopping to its DFS channels on top of its 2.4 and 5.8 GHz frequencies.

Featuring an external battery adapter and expansion ports, the RS 3 pro allows more compatibility with professional grade mounts and crane systems.  This also allows the RS 3 pro to be powered by external batteries which enables you to get more iconic shots using cradles like a V mount.  The RS 3 pro also can be used with Intuitive motion control and coupled to be used with a remote monitor which has a built-in gyroscopic sensor.  The remote monitor also utilizes a Mirror Control Mode which allows you direct access to Sony camera’s menu settings.
